He had his early education at Milagres Institutions Kallianpur and graduated with a B.A. degreefrom Milagres College, Post Graduate Degrees in Economics and Political Science and LLB, Hindi Rathna, awarded Ph.D. in Political Science on the topic “Political Awareness among women in Dakshina Kannada including Udupi Dist.”. A recipient of Honorary doctorate (D. Lit.) award from University of South America in 2017.

MAN OF PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCE: Lion Dr. Nery Cornelio had an excellent academic career. Served as a Lecturer in M.G.M. College, Udupi in 1979-1980, Govt. First Grade College, Hebri in 1980-1981, St. Mary’s College, Shirva, in 1981-1995, Milagres College Kallianpur in 1995-2011 and Served as the Principal of Milagres College Kallinapur from 2011 to 2016 He has presented many Academic Papers at the conferences and Refresher Courses at the State/National and International Level. He has published more than 25 research papers in International and National Journals. As a resource person he has presented more than 500 Lectures in various places of India. He has guided some of his students to do higher studies and Doctorates. A person endowed with the gift of the gab, who can hold you spell bound, has delivered a number of lecturers in the continuing education programmes and workshops. He has presented more than 25 talks in all India Radio, Mangalore.

A MAN WHO LOVES TO LEAD: Lion Dr Nery Cornelio was the Leader of Milagres College Students Union 1974-1977, President of AICUF Milagres College, President of Catholic Youth Organisation, President of Grama Yuvak Mandala, President of Old Student association LVP Higher Pry School, President of Karavali Co-operative Society, Vice President and Administrator of Parish Pastoral Council, Vice President of Milagres Educational Institutions, Director of Udupi Catholic Credit Co-operative Society, Udupi, Director of Teachers’ Co- operative Bank, General Secretary and President of International Federation of all Catholic Association of Karnataka

AMAN WHO SERVES WITH A SMILE: Lion Dr Nery Cornelio was drawn towards one of the largest service-oriented organization in the world Lions Club International in the year 1992 and was committed to the motto ‘WE SERVE’. Lion Dr Nery Cornelio a charismatic person with a winsome personality was a committed social worker with abundant compassion towards the downtrodden. His Journey with Lions started with Lions Club Kallianpur as a chartered member on 19.07.1992. He served in various capacities in District 317C. To highlight a few:- Club President, District Chairperson under various portfolios, GLT leader, Editorial Board, District Directory Editor, International Presidents Programme, Region Quest Coordinator, GAT Co- Chairperson, Chief Ambassador Membership Growth, Region Chairperson.

As a Lion he has sponsored 35 new members to his own Club Kallianpur during 2017-2018 under District Governor Lion. A.R. Ujjananppa, pmjf. As a Region Chairman of Region-I formed eight New Lions Clubs, 4 Leo Clubs, inducted more than 120 members and motivated many Lions Members to become MJFS

FAMILY: Lion Dr. Nery Cornelio is married to Lion Ophilia Philomena Cornelio and is blessed with 2 daughters and one son. Lion Ophilia Philomena Cornelio is retired Syndicate Bank Employee, Son Alden U.M. Cornelio is an Engineer in Bangalore, daughter Sonali is a Doctor working in Sidney Australia, youngest daughter Roopali is working in London, U.K.
A proven Leader of outstanding merits, he is always able to establish rapport at the grass root level which made him popular and person who is loved and admired by all the people.He is an embodiment of SACRIFICE, a man who lives in the hearts of people. He preaches religion through his life and work.
